Reverend Canon Andrew (Andy) Thompson has lived in the Middle East and the Gulf for much of his life and joined St Andrew’s from St Paul’s Church in Kuwait in June 2010. He was ordained in 2000 and holds degrees in Behavioural Sciences and Islamic Studies. Andy was awarded the MBE in Her Majesty the Queen’s 2011 Honours List for his contribution to inter-faith relations and his work in Kuwait. He was made an Honorary Canon of Bahrain Cathedral in August 2011. Andy has been married to his wife Navina since 1994 (they got married at Holy Trinity Church in Dubai) and they have three children (Benjamin, Kathryn and Rianne) who currently attend the British School Al Khubairat in Abu Dhabi.
Andy also has some other presence on the internet! His books on about christianity in the Middle East are a valuable witness to what God’s church is doing in this region as well as a celebration of inter-faith dialogue in predominantly Muslim countries. Visit his author page for more information about his writing and books. And Andy’s lifelong interest in magic, particularly as a tool for telling the Gospel stories, also led him to write a book called “Gospel Magic” – check it out here!
